First project in Norway to use cardboard closures

Wood Tube has delivered cardboard studs to Storebrand's project at Filipstad Brygge 1 in Oslo. Seltor is the turnkey contractor and this is the first project in Norway to use recycled cardboard studs.

Sustainability

A life cycle analysis conducted by Karlstad University shows that a cardboard stud from Wood Tube emits 14 times less CO3 equivalents compared to a steel stud, which is the most common stud used in construction. In other words, 14 Wood Tube studs can be produced with the same emissions as 1 steel stud.

Work environment

The cardboard stanchion is lightweight, has no sharp edges and is easy to cut. So you minimize the risk of cuts and there is less noise than when cutting a steel stud. Feedback from wall installers has been nothing but positive so far. The use of cardboard studs is innovative and forward-thinking, and will be closely monitored in the future.

Seltor at Filipstad has also been visited by Paper Province and Wood Tube, who attended the World Conference On Timber Engineering in Oslo in June.
