My name is Kristin Svånå Piene and I'm a 4th year student in the Civil and Environmental Engineering program at NTNU in Trondheim. Since January 2022, I've been working on the unique Hasle Tre project in Oslo for Seltor. From day one, I was welcomed with open arms and got to work on exciting tasks.
The first week I spent in the office in the barracks to get to know the project team. This made it easier to carry out the tasks I took with me to Trondheim during the spring semester. The main task was to follow up on the BREEAM environmental certification tool. Hasle Tre is a building with a strong focus on the environment, and for that reason the building will achieve the second highest certification BREEAM Excellent. "Getting the opportunity to become familiar with this system has been educational in many ways. I've gained a good overview of what the turnkey contractor has to submit and what measures need to be carried out, as well as contact with other parties involved in the project.
From June to mid-August, I worked full-time in Oslo, where I was greeted by new additions to the team and even more exciting tasks. At the same time as I continued working on BREEAM, I took part in safety inspections, wrote safety inspection protocols, reports on undesirable incidents (RUH), quality assurance (QA), procurement, FDV documentation and much more. When it came to procurement, I got to carry out the entire process, from writing and sending out requests for tenders, following up the tenders and writing the contract.
The fact that I've been given varying tasks meant that I quickly understood the complexity behind the tasks in a project. It's been very exciting to be given real work tasks with great responsibility, while at the same time receiving very good follow-up. The teamwork has been very instructive and has shown me how colleagues can help each other to achieve good results.
After an eventful summer, I'm now back in Trondheim and will continue working part-time for Seltor until 2022. This allows me to be involved in the Hasle Tre project from groundwork to the final phase, which I consider an incredible opportunity and am very grateful for.
Finally, I would like to thank Seltor and everyone I have worked with, you have contributed to an irreplaceable learning experience for me.
Regards Kristin Svånå Piene
